Job Overview
Green Door Energy, LLC is seeking a full-time certified Home Energy Rater or Field Technician to perform visual inspections and building diagnostic testing for both NC Energy Conservation Code compliance and above-code programs, collect field data and verify single-family homes to various certifications such as ENERGY STAR New Homes and Advanced Energy's SystemVision program, and assist with energy modeling using Ekotrope RATER.
Responsibilities
-Inspect new residential buildings for code compliance and energy efficient construction features including framing, insulation, air barriers, and HVAC
-Perform diagnostic testing for whole house air leakage in new homes and duct leakage in new and existing homes to help calculate energy efficiency performance
-Communicate directly with home builders, homeowners, and trades to help them meet their energy efficiency and sustainability goals
-Accurate, real-time entry of field data into energy modeling software
Requirements
-Have a passion for environmental conservation and sustainability
-Keep safety in mind at all times, whether on the job site or behind the wheel
-Be a team player and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
-Have an Associate's Degree or higher
-Computer and software skills: Technical proficiency and basic computer skills are a must. Experience with iOS, MS Excel, and energy modeling software (Ekotrope RATER) is preferred
-Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for 100 feet unassisted
-Ability to work outdoors, in basements, enclosed crawl spaces and attics
-Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred Certifications and Experience
-Experience with construction blueprints
-RESNET HERS Rater or Rating Field Inspector certifications are preferred
-Experience with ACCA Manual J Load Calculations with Wrightsoft a plus
-One or more BPI accreditations are helpful
-OSHA 10 (or greater) certification
Notes
Although the Field Technician will always be inside a house during testing, there will often be times when there is no heat or air conditioning within the testing location. Therefore, it must be understood and expected that the Field Technician will be exposed to a variety of environmental situations, such as extreme heat and cold, and access to testing locations may require exposure to rain and other elements. Along with these climate-related factors, the Field Technician will be faced with other common hazards found on construction sites, such as uneven surfaces, sharp objects, unpredictable actions of other subcontractors, etc.
Residential new construction work is somewhat seasonal. As such, there will be times of the year when working longer hours are expected and vacation time is less available; conversely, there are also times with shorter working hours and vacation time is readily available.
Benefits/Compensation
