Job Description
MAIN FUNCTION:
Plans and performs all necessary preparations for painting and refinishing interior and exterior surfaces including furniture and equipment. Paints and refinishes. Reports to the Director of Facility Engineering.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Responsible for laying out and hanging of new and repair of existing coverings (i.e., carpet, vinyl, fabric and/or murals) and repair of existing coverings.
+ Prepares, paints and refinishes assigned areas and items. Tapes and patches drywall and plaster surfaces as required.
+ Orders proper colors to match existing wall finish and/or desired color and records for future needs as required.
+ Keeps dated records of areas and equipment painted in accordance with departmental policy.
+ Responsible for proper storage of flammable materials
6. Cleans area after painting.
7. Responsible for safe and proper care of tools, supplies and equipment.
8. Participates in fire drills and uses fire fighting equipment as needed.
9. Promotes and fosters the mission and philosophy of the Hospital during performance of job duties and community activities.
10. Actively supports and participates in Hospital's Continuous Quality Improvement endeavors.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
12. This position requires you to follow standard precaution guidelines in all work situations.
13. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.
14. EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent. Trade school training preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two to four years of experience in paint and fabric installations is required. Knowledge of paints, varnishes, shellacs and/or other finishes and proper use of each.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR) REQUIREMENTS:
No CPR required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Uses equipment and tools such as: step ladders, ladders, drop cloths, putty knives, scrapers, steamers, paint brushes and spray guns. Erects and dismantles scaffolding.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Estimates quantities of paint required and plans work schedule. Must be able to schedule and complete assigned projects within established time guidelines. Must hold a valid driver's license and have clean driving record.
EXPOSURE CATEGORY:
Category III. Tasks that do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. And Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.
