As a DCS Estimating Intern, you can expect to gain heavy civil construction estimating knowledge by working closely with experienced construction Estimators on a variety of tasks such as:
Track bid opportunities for the company to pursue
Obtain, read and understand drawings, blueprints, specifications, etc. necessary for each bid
Solicit, review and award subcontractor estimates for, landscape, traffic signals, dry utilities, masonry, signage, striping etc.
Perform take-offs for grading, paving, concrete, and underground utilities
Present bids including constructability, risk factors, schedules and budgets to review teams prior to bid submission
Track/prepare multiple bids and proposals simultaneously
Maintain accurate and organized electronic project files
Utilize programs such as Heavy Bid, Hard Dollar, Microsoft Project, On-Screen, and Agtek
Our team of experienced Estimated will help grow your knowledge of:
Crew configurations and labor productions
Estimating techniques, cost control, subcontractor solicitation, and material specifications
Municipal specifications and details
Project delivery methods such as Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) or Job Order Contracts (JOC)
Our Estimating Interns work out of our main office located off Germann Rd and Arizona Ave in Chandler.

Internship Qualifications:
Currently enrolled Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
High interest and eager to learn more about the construction industry
Not afraid to dive right in and ask questions
Supportive, team player with the mentality to do what is best for the success of the company and team members
Ability to work full-time or at least 20 hours per week Monday – Friday
