Position: Superintendent

Location: Various Project Sites

Reports to: Senior Superintendent

Summary: The Superintendent acts as the crucial eyes and ears of the Construction Department, ensuring optimal coordination of materials, equipment, and personnel across various projects. This role aims to enhance field efficiencies and maintain the company’s high standards in all activities. Superintendents also have expanded responsibilities over and above those of a Field Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Jobsite Safety: Prioritize safety on-site and ensure potential hazards by others are documented and immediately reported to the Director of Safety/Risk Management in the daily report.
Injury Protocol: In case of any injury, instantly contact the Director of Safety/Risk Management and ensure Foremen accurately fill out the accident form, capturing details of all witnesses and their accounts.
Field Measuring: Schedule and participate in field measuring for all relevant projects. Collaborate with the Project Manager to guarantee the accuracy of information before detailing and shop release. All field verifications must be signed and dated.
Material Verification: Compare Bill of Lading quantities with shop drawings and bill pages, endorse them, and provide them to the Project Manager for receipt verification.
Substrate Review: Examine substrates personally to certify compliance before any material installation.
Housing Arrangement: Coordinate housing needs through the Project Manager and Construction Administrator.
Equipment Scheduling: Schedule necessary equipment, including forklifts, man-lifts, scaffolding, large power tools, seamers, and more.
Employee Training: Aid Foremen in training new field employees, adopting a hands-on approach for teaching and answering questions.
Detailing Communication: Notify detailing of any discrepancies, such as flashing, screw, or panel shortcomings. Foremen should provide such information weekly.
Budget Monitoring: Oversee costs related to general conditions, labor, equipment, and lodging. Notify management about possible budget overruns before they happen.
Change Order Generation: Create Change Orders for additional work, ensuring that extra field work orders are accurately filled out, endorsed, and sent to Project Management.
MSDS & Safety Plans: Ensure the presence of all MSDS and safety plans at each job site. Liaise with the Director of Safety/Risk Management if additional books are needed.
Time Management: Submit/approve all time for self or the respective Foremen on projects via hh2 Payroll.
Daily Reports: Ensure daily field reports are accurately filled in the document control system, either by the Superintendent or respective Foremen.
Shop Drawing Review: Ensure the use of the most recent set of shop drawings. If outdated drawings are in use, inform the Project Manager/Drafter to provide the current set.
Overtime Approval: Communicate and obtain approval from the Field Director for all overtime work before execution.
Labor Monitoring: Actively supervise and report on labor productivity and crew sizes daily.

Skills and Qualifications:

Extensive experience in metal and glazing installations and construction supervision.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Proficiency in document control software and related tools.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
Understanding of safety protocols and O.S.H.A. standards.

Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, and climbing on construction sites.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Visual and manual dexterity for equipment operation and report filing.
