Job Description
Northern Arizona University's Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities (SR&R) is student is recruiting one (1) Student Rights & Responsibilities Manager to join their team in 2025. The Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities supports the educational mission of Northern Arizona University by upholding the standards of conduct for the university community. SR&R supports faculty and staff that may need assistance addressing student behavior and provides educational opportunities for students that may have violated university policies. Our goal is to provide an overview of the conduct process and serve as a resource for addressing concerns to ensure students successfully meet their goals in accordance with the expectations of the university community.
This position will report to the Assistant Director, this position within Student Rights & Responsibilities and adjudicates all levels of student conduct cases, including cases which may result in suspension, expulsion, or degree revocation. This position will also specialize in organizational cases and investigations, including serving as a Student Rights & Responsibilities team member on organizational investigations. Provides resources, support, and remedies to parties involved in the investigations.
Job Duties and Responsibilties
Student Conduct - 75%
• Serve as a University Hearing Officer in the adjudication of student conduct issues (individual) with an emphasis on student development and growth.
• Complete intake process for new referrals for possible violations of university policy.
• Monitor cases for compliance with assigned sanctions.
• Process and maintain private student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA)
• Serve as a University representative and/or witness as needed and appropriate with the University Hearing Board.
• Serve as a resource and presenter to university departments on topics related to individual cases within Student Rights & Responsibilities.
• Participate in campus efforts to prevent, reduce, and intervene with problematic student behaviors such as underage or excessive alcohol use, among others.
Organizational Conduct - 15%
• Serve as a Student Rights & Responsibilities investigator for the management and coordination of organizational conduct cases.
• Serve as a University Hearing Officer in the adjudication of student conduct issues (organizational) with an emphasis on student development and growth.
• Complete intake process for new organizational referrals for possible violations of university policy.
General Dean of Student Responsibilities - 5%
• As a member of the Student Rights & Responsibilities unit within the Dean of Students, actively engage in efforts to enhance practice and procedures, revise publications, and standardize departmental practices.
• Provide assistance to students regarding a variety of student issues/needs, including crisis/personal issues they may be experiencing.
• Represent the Dean of Students at various programs including University Expos and New Student Orientation.
• Assist as needed with large-scale university events such as Homecoming, Family Weekend, and Welcome Week.
• Coordinate and assist with various special assignments within the Dean of Students as needed.
• Serve on departmental, divisional, or university committees or task forces as assigned or requested.
Other duties as assigned - 5%
Minimum Qualifications
• Undergraduate bachelor's degree
• 2-4 years of relevant experience
• 1-2 years of program management experience
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in in Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or related field (completed by position start date).
• Experience and knowledge in working with students and student organizations within a university environment.
• Experience in working with and knowledge of student conduct procedures.
• Experience with protected rights held and expressed by campus community members including speech, assembly, and association.
• Experience in developing, implementing, and coordinating various types of programs.
• Experience with and passion for working with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Familiarity with legal issues and case law related to student conduct administration.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Knowledge of higher education law, including FERPA, Title IX, HIPAA, etc.
• Knowledge of student conduct, crisis response, and behavior management.
• Knowledge of student conduct administration including the areas of law, public policy, investigation, etc.
• Customer service skills
• Data tracking and reporting.
• Organizational and project management skills.
• Development and maintenance of a budget.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Communicates effectively.
• Problem solving, organizational, and analytical capabilities.
• Promotes a diverse, inclusive environment.
• Ability to work as part of the team and at times, perform at high levels independently.
Background Information
This position has been identified as a safety/security sensitive position. Therefore, per AZ Revised Statute, Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, degree verification (in some cases) and fingerprinting. Salary
Anticipated salary range is $58,882 - $73,434. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
FLSA Status
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.

New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of the pay period following election.
