The **Craftsman - Heavy Equipment Operators** work in the maintenance department of the refinery. The positions are straight day jobs, subject to occasional shift work, turnarounds, call outs and mandatory overtime. Equipment Operators run heavy equipment within the refinery and from time to time on public roadways. Equipment includes but not limited to mobile cranes up to 160-ton capacity, backhoes, front end loaders, road graders, forklifts, cherry pickers, and trucks. This work takes place in all areas of the refinery, outside exposed to the weather elements and to blowing air, heat, noise, and vibration. The refinery processes involve hazardous and volatile materials under high temperatures and pressures.

The starting rate of pay ranges, based on skills and experience, from $36.11 - $45.54/hour with the ability to reach top craft pay within 48 months which is currently $49.24/hour.

Candidates who receive an offer of employment will then be required to successfully complete a pre-employment due diligence process including background check, medical, hearing, respiratory and vision exams and agility testing. This position is expected to start in August 2024.

**Responsibilities may include**

+ Safely operate various pieces of heavy equipment in support of maintenance work and construction projects

+ Utilize load charts to determine safe lifting parameters for crane lifts

+ Perform/confirm safe rigging for lifts

+ Infrequently make critical deliveries via intercity, over-the-road trucks

+ Perform routine maintenance and inspection on vehicles and equipment

+ Coordinate work of others as needed

+ Relocation is not available for this position

**Required Qualifications**

+ Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

+ Must be 18 years of age

+ High school degree or GED equivalent

+ Possession of a valid Class A CDL driver’s license along with a medical examiner certification

+ 3 or more years of experience as a journeyman level equipment operator in an oil refinery or a chemical process or similar facility

+ NCCCO or Recognized certification in swing and fixed cab crane operation.

+ Willing and able to work outside in harsh weather elements

+ Willing and able to work near products that are under high pressure and heat

+ Willing and able to operate a forklift

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Recognized certification in mobile crane operation up to 160-ton capacity

+ Completion of a recognized apprenticeship, military, vocational or technical school program in heavy equipment operation or equivalent work experience

The **Borger Refinery** is located in Borger, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle, approximately 50 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes primarily medium sour crude oil produced locally, and heavy sour crude oil produced in Canada, all of which are delivered by pipeline. Borger produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petroleum coke, NGLs and solvents. Refined products are distributed to customers via pipelines from the refinery to West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and the Midcontinent region.
