**Job Description**

**Turner & Townsend** is seeking an experienced **Preconstruction Cost Estimator** to support a leading technology client’s data center construction program with cost control, estimating and commercial management services.

To be successful in this role you must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable operating in a client-facing role.

**Responsibilities** :

+ Develop cost plans and project capital estimates through the design phase, delivering updated cost plans at appropriate design milestones.

+ Prepare cost reports and estimate packages, and regularly present to stakeholders.

+ Identify variance summaries between estimates and conduct value engineering studies.

+ Manage key relationships with the client, general contractor, and project team.

+ Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and leading negotiations on behalf of the client to drive fair contract prices.

+ Lead the commercial review of the competitive bid process for major trades.

+ Benchmarking integration to ensure accurate data capture.

**Qualifications**

+ Experience preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic or feasibility-level documentation.

+ Understanding of unit costs and factors which affect construction cost.

+ Experience working on Request for Proposal Responses (RFP’s).

+ Possess estimating experience including time spent in mission critical, manufacturing, industrial or life science sectors.

+ Demonstrated experience of developing estimates throughout the project lifecycle.

+ College degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related technical field, and/or field-related experience.

+ Excellent communicator and thrives in a client facing role.

+ Technical knowledge of construction industry matters, such as value management and value engineering.

+ Excellent stakeholder management skills with ability to adapt messaging to suit the recipients.
