Sr. Regional Construction Manager

The Regional Construction Manager supervises the execution of construction according to the Construction

Contract and AutoZone's policies, procedures, and standards. Ensures that AutoZone's programs are being utilized

to optimize the performance of AutoZone and the contractor. The Construction Project Manager is a steward of

AutoZone's resources (materials, capital, equipment, and people) and continually assesses contractor performance

for quality, cost, schedule, safety, and security expectations. This role is based in Memphis, TN. Relocation package offered.


+ Manage and support multiple Construction Regional teams to promote future focused opportunities to grow the Hub/Mega Hub program.

+ Collaborate with the Construction Support team to ensure company financial and contractual measures are adhered to and promote process improvement initiatives to support field construction teams.

+ Deploy strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including ability to lead autonomously across multiple business channels.

+ Responsible for the field team training and development of RCM’s and Project Managers to ensure alignment with department strategies and tactics.

+ Oversee construction schedule compliance / management with the field teams to ensure schedules are current to date.

+ Grow the qualified contractor base by executing the GC qualification process and provide development to newly qualified contractors to maintain a mix of qualified contractors throughout the country.

+ Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents and respond effectively to business sensitive issues.

+ Engineer effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics with leadership, and internal-external teams.

+ In-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles; execute calculation of complex figures.

+ Identifies complex project risks, develops mitigation strategy(s) to eliminate/or reduce and deploys plan of attack.

+ Budget preparation & forecasting.

+ Construction Contract preparation and execution.

+ Critical decision making if a daily part of Fast Track high volume construction.

+ Travel to sites to manage, coach and mentor Project Managers.

+ Travel to sites prior to identifying complex project risks, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and implement action plans to reduce or eliminate project risks.

+ Demonstrates capability to read and understand complex construction documents.

+ Performs Design Reviews and trains Project Managers on how to perform Design Reviews

+ Review, negotiate and facilitate change orders requests.

+ Ability to coach contractors to desired results.

+ Ability to train and mentor Construction Project Managers on AutoZone standard Project Management practices.

+ Maintain daily reporting and communication on Region key metrics and project difficulties.

+ Day-to-day knowledge and updating of project financials and schedules.

+ Ability to train and mentor Construction Project Managers on AutoZone Specifications, Standards and Site Inspections.

+ Ensure that Project Managers Site Inspections are completed on all projects.

+ Ensure that Project Managers confirm AutoZone Specifications and Standards.

+ Ongoing verification and adherence to OSHA 30 safety regulations.



+ A minimum of ten to twenty years of experience in construction project management is required

+ Must be able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment.

+ Demonstrated ability to make decisions daily that fulfill fiduciary responsibilities and policies.

+ Must be able to travel 3 days per week, 2 weeks per period.

+ Experience leading, motivating, and managing various team sizes, both internal and external, while holding accountability for performance and results.

+ Will be required to manage internal process improvement projects on an ongoing and as needed basis.

+ Must be able to present and participate in weekly cross-functional re-occurring meetings.

+ Must have effective time management, conflict management, problem solving and strong organizational skills and be able to meet tight deadlines.

+ Demonstrated experience negotiating and facilitating change orders requests.

+ Demonstrated history of adhering to organizational policies and procedures required.

+ Must be able to complete Design Review for each of their assigned projects Construction Documents

+ Must be able to compile and present project specific information to larger groups.

+ Experience managing multiple direct reports.

+ OSHA 30 certification required.

+ PMP certificate required.

+ Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand architectural drawings. Knowledge in MS Office Suite, contracts, and construction practices.
