Leads the Application Engineering group from process design, quotation through to installation. This group responds to the engineering/technical needs of field sales, distribution, and customers. The role leads the team to support field sales through partnership with the technical/ chemistry team to design customer product forms meeting customer KPIs and managing customer projects from scoping through to installation.
The position requires a knowledge of existing and new-product applications in catalysis space from basic catalysis to product form and reactor process. Must be able to coordinate the activities of the Application Engineers in order to best service the needs of our customers, distributors, and salesmen for technical support and applied engineering.
The key measure of performance is timely completion of assigned engineering workload coupled with effective customer response. This effectiveness is gauged in part by such criteria as: product design turnaround time, project management of active projects through to sale, customer support for various testing.
This position reports to the Sr Director Catalysis, and will manage multiple application engineers in the field.

+ Review customers’ technical needs and recommend specific product solutions to meet those needs, or design a new solution to meet the needs using product portfolio.
+ Develop application engineering intake and pipeline management process to meet growing catalysis business.
+ Build application engineering team through hiring and development of application engineers in the field.
+ Develop new product forms and process options to meet the expanded Catalysis application portfolio and customer requirements in partnership with the Technical Manager.
+ Lead research and development of design and development equipment needed to maximize market share of catalysis business.
+ Work with Process Scale Up group to take new designs and products to full production at commercial scale. Support manufacturing process improvements to deliver enhanced margins and reduced manufacturing costs.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or other technical specialty
+ At least 5 years of experience in catalysis doing design or process work, as well as 1-3 years of people management experience
+ Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills to work with front line through to executive leadership
+ Strong cross functional project management skills leading large global cross functional teams to successful project installation
+ Strong design abilities creating new products and modifying existing products to meet customer criteria- ideally able to reference existing products in the catalysis marketplace today
+ Understanding of manufacturing processes involved with new technology scale up to align designs to full commercial production
