About The Job

6West (Cardiac Step Down) is a fast-paced cardiac step-down unit which provides an intermediate level of monitoring and nursing care for patients that don’t meet ICU criteria but need a higher level of care than a medical-surgical unit. 6 West RN's are skilled in advanced cardiac monitoring and work closely with specialized physicians and others in the multidisciplinary team. Our step down unit has a team leader nursing structure that emphasizes teamwork and offers direct support to the bedside RN.

What You Will Do

The Cardiac Step-down Unit RN provides an intermediate level of care for patients that includes but is not limited to:

Heart attacks

Heart Failure

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)

Valve replacements/repairs/transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS)

Abnormal heart rhythms

Post procedures from the Cath Lab (angiogram/angioplasty, pacemaker, ablation)

Complex medical patients

What We Are Looking For

Education:

Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa or qualified multi-state license required.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience in a cardiac step down setting preferred.

Special Skills and Competencies:

Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs.

Self-motivated, detail oriented individual able to work with minimum supervision.
