CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

+ New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

+ New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.

+ The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

+ This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.

+ As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.

+ Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.

*NOTE*

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

+ A High School Diploma AND

+ Two (2) years of experience in Plumbing or related field

+ Must be able to obtain a backflow certification for testing and repairing backflows

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

+ Currently possesses a backflow certification for testing and repairing backflows

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, and pull.

+ Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers.

+ Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. or more.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Install maintain, repair, and replace main water distribution lines and main sewer lines, cut off valves, and fire hydrants.

+ Install maintain, test, and repair backflows to buildings.

+ Installation and repairs of LP Gas appliances.

+ Complies with Hazardous Waste Management Rules and Regulations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

+ Knowledge of the procedures and methods for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and heating fixtures and accessories.

+ Skill in using pipe cutters, reamers, threading machines and other specialized tools and equipment.

+ Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

+ Ability to communicate effectively.

+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

+ Skilled in operation of backhoe.

+ Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades or mechanical repair work.

+ Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work.

+ Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.

+ Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades functions.

+ Ability to read blueprints. Ability to take accurate measurements.

+ Ability to follow instructions.
